Our Vision:Transition Youth Projects Inc. formed in 2011 to help build a Skate Park in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii. We came together with Waikoloa Community Development Corporation who had been working for years to build a skate park .Waikoloa Village is a small rural community located 20 miles from anything else in any direction. While parents are working, this leaves a lot of unsupervised youth in our community who have very limited options for a safe environment to gather. The Waikoloa SkatePark has been a project in the development and planning phase for over 10 years. WCDC and many others had put many hours of planning into the initial site development phase of the park. Transition Youth Projects Inc. came together with WCDC and brainstormed ideas to make this skatepark become reality. One important goal was to create community awareness on the importance and value of the skatepark and that goal was achieved through various fundraising events. In 2013 we were able to finally break ground on Phase 1 of the Kamakoa Nui Skate Park in Waikoloa Village. The youth are using it daily and taking great care of their park. They are looking forward to the day when Phase 2 is complete. We are excited that we are able to help provide a safe, drug free , outdoor environment for our youth and community members.
TheKamakoa Nui Skatepark is located in Waikoloa Village on the Big Island of Hawaii. From the Kohala Coast Resort area, take Waikoloa Road about 8 miles up. At the intersection of Waikoloa Road and Paniolo Avenue make a left on Paniolo Avenue. Follow this road, go past the stoplight to the end of Paniolo Avenue. The skatepark will be to your left.
